Summary:
- I did select this power, and as far as blocking attacks it does what it's supposed to do, however the after effect of non-physical damage resistance was removed some time ago. What makes the Eldritch Shield unique compared to other shields is that it mitigates a little more non-physical damage than usual. Overall, this shield is a pretty standard power, and is sometimes selected early to unlock powers in the Sorcery Frameworks faster. A new advantage was recently created called 'Imbue with Power' and as you can see above, each of the Auras from the Sorcery Framework can add various effects to shields.

All the extra effects offered by 'Imbue with Power' have their benefits, although I personally find the effect granted by Aura of Primal Majesty to be questionable since the damage is not very significant. The fear effect from Aura of Ebon Wrath I would assume to be -15% damage like other fear effects, so this is one way to help further reduce incoming damage, while the Aura of Radiant Protection's extra healing negates damage in a different way by replenishing health. Lastly for those who feel they can never have enough energy, Aura of Arcane Clarity greatly increases energy returns while blocking, in a fashion similar to the shield from the Force Framework.
